You gotta be at the top of your game in order to carry a name that sounds like This off the pages of a super hero comic strip. Fortunately for Rich Pangilinan, AKA The Riddler, he is. In addition to being named best radio mix show DJ at the International Dance Music awards and Hot Mixer of the Year at the Winter Music Conference for his shows on WKTU, The Riddler's released a slew of best selling dance mix compilation cds which have surpassed Gold status cumulatively. Among them, MTV's "The Grind" (Tommy Boy), "Club Nation" (Ministry of Sound/MCA) and the popular "Dance Mix" series, volumes 1-5 (Tommy Boy), Ultra Dance 06 (Ultra). Aside from his compilation cds, the Riddler has released major label remixes with the likes of Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Dido, Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera. He has produced for several up-and-coming dance artists and is part of the group MYNT which features Kim Sozzi, Albert Castillo, Marisol Angelique There you have it. One mystery solved. DJ DLG integrated his passion for disco & new wave music into house music as both a producer and as a remixer, causing many to call his music disco-house or electro house. DJ DLG has original releases with Eyezcream recordings as well as with his own label Huge Records. His own productions and various remixes are found on the aforementioned labels as well as on; Ministry Of Sound, Universal, Apollo, Nervous, Stealth, Eye Industries, Superstar, Kontor, Phonetic, Oxyd, Motivo, Cyber, Subliminal, Fine Tune, Time, Be Yourself, Epos, Moonshine , Juicy, Vendetta, Ledge, Opaque, Tambour, and many others. .Born in 1979 and raised in the US, DLG's lifelong relationship with dance music began in the later '80s, when he began collecting disco, soul, and funk records. In 1996, He began dj'ing and promotion in NEUSA. In 2002 DJ TJR introduced DLG to Brandon from MMG. Brandon mentioned to DLG there was an up & coming producer from Canada by the name of Dave Armstrong. Soon, DLG met Dave Armstrong who introduced DLG to Eyezcream recordings crew. In 2003 DLG began assisting with International A&R for Eyezcream. DLG started his own label in 2005, Huge Records with the head of A&R at Eyezcream Gio. Currently DLG is no longer A&R with Eyezcream however he is one of their main artists/ remixer.His first release as DJ DLG came in 2002, "Headfunk," released on Teknotik, followed by "Epiphany EP Part 1," released on , Eyezcream Recordings. He also notably produced Christopher Cross version of `Ride Like the Wind' with vocalist Hakan & Eyezcream artist Redroche, which went on to be signed by Sony Canada. Over the 2005 - 2007, DLG continued releasing his productions and had even more success as a remixer, not to mention his Djing.

One of AZ's hardest working DJs , Tranzit has quickly become a club and underground favorite. Resident DJ at two of Scottsdale's Largest clubs, Myst and E4 nightclub where you can find him on a weekly basis. With a style all his own, the energy never stops behind the decks including the dance floor. Always keeping an eye on the crowd and never skipping a beat. Come see what all the fuss is about. Michael James

Highly Regarded and well known for his flawless mixing along with exceptional programming ability, (DJ) Michael James has become one of AZ's most sought after exports. Currently resident DJ to Scottsdale, AZ's famous E4 NightClub, along with assuming a promotional position with Tuesdays “SHINE”. You can find Michael hard at work performing and promoting all over the state. A transplant from the sunshine state gulf coast and living in Tucson, he was immediately picked up by AZ's largest nightclub, Gotham & The New West, throwing him into a market of over 2,000 in attendance every night. Over the last ten years, Michael has performed at almost every dance club in AZ and has recently been logging gigs in US tribal-house mecca, Miami (Pawnshop, WMC, Dek 23, Onda Lounge) and has had stop-offs in Chicago, Seattle, Las Vegas...etc, with more on the books. LIMEWAX -Tech Itch/Freak Recordings/Obscene Recordings/Anger ManagementLimewax doesn't like to be thought of as a child prodigy, but he is, despite his protests, the young Einstein of the Anger / Tech Freak posse. At only 18, he is already producing tracks on par with the big guns, and holding his own in the sickness department!Born in 1988 (!) he was weaned on hardcore vodka and babushkaÂ¹s in Russia and the Ukraine until the tender age of 11, where he then moved to the smokerÂ¹s paradise that is Holland. A classically trained pianist, he began his decent into the griminess of drum and bass through listening to radio shows and breakbeat and ambient. Soon after his 11th birthday, he received some old equipment and began to mess about with atmospherics, and wrote a few symphonies (yes, symphonies - we're talking a young Mozart here!) and soon moved from old beaten up Roland's to getting his head around reason at age 15. From 15 to now has been all hard work, perspiration and a helluva lot of inspiration!Limewax's tunes are reminiscent of the dark sci fi landscapes of Technical Itch, the driving dark funk force of Dylan, like a hybrid love child - he is easily one of the most exciting artists to emerge from Europe this year, and without a doubt will remain so for the years ahead! From the the Cracking Core EP on Tech Itch Recordings, his Freak debut ' The Lawra' , and more recently the 'We Have Life' EP with SPL featuring the huge dancefloor shaker 'Untitled 666' . D- PASSION

D-Passion (Rik Gieling) from the North West of The Netherlands had his talent recognized quickly. He produces dance floor orientated hardcore with a very distinctive sound. In no time his music was recognized as the ‘D-Passion sound’. His first release on The Third Movement in 2002 was ‘Exposure’ a successful track, being played at endless parties as well as being placed on several compilations. Following in 2003 was the unforgotten ‘Fuck the free world’ enthusiasm was expressed all over the world in response to this release. D-Passion continues to establish a reputable name for himself in the world of Hardcore. Also releasing ‘Kind of Rude, IM002’ on the sub-label Industrial Movement, a production that displayed total origination.

Alex B (Alex Broekhuizen) is from the North West of The Netherlands. After a lot of association in the Hardcore scene, including his own radio show ‘Hardbeatz’, along with DJ performances and graphic design, Alex became involved with The Third Movement and worked on Co-productions with several artists such as Promo and D-Passion. Alex officially joined The Third Movement in 2005. After a number of quality tracks on several releases such ‘Endless Combinations’ and ‘Bij Gebrek aan beter’ Alex’s party orientated hardcore often with humorous elements reflects well on his personality.

Petrochemical is a hardcore project from Norway. The first record came out in 2004 on Genosha Recordings. Their style is mainly darkcore and industrial, but there are no rules for these guys. They will make what they want. Allways has... allways will. ToXtoy (50% of Petrochemical) is the one representing Petrochemical in a DJ set and will serve a set with everything from Hardcore and Hard Techno (Schranz) to raw Industrial and Darkcore. He started DJ'ing in 1996, but because of his hard music style he didn't get many bookings in his motherland (that's right... there is no hardcore in Norway). DJ ENRIE (LA, 93.9 , MOONSHINE RECORDINGS) Nominated for Industry Insider's 1996 Commercial DJ of the Year, power mixer DJ Enrie turns up the heat all year round. A gifted high-powered DJ, Enrie continues to captivate the dance community with a never-ending mix of his passion for the turntables and his lust for house music. Born in Queens, New York, Enrie moved to southern California in 1988. He quickly created a foundation for himself in the industry while working at American Trax Record Pool and working the clubland scene throughout Los Angeles. Befriending two DJs, Richard "Humpty" Vission and Tony B. who had mixshows on L.A.'s Power 106 FM proved to be most beneficial for Enrie's budding career. As their stars rose, Vission and Tony B. were required to travel quite regularly. They soon enlisted Enrie's mixing talents to fill in while they were out of town. With his rising noteriety as a house savvy innovator Enrie was also collaborating with Vission on the "Power Tools" show. Enrie subsequently proved his talents were far more worthy of a regular position at the station and his signature mid-day mix show "Power Workout" was born. The success of the two "Power" shows helped Enrie give underground house music a broad-based audience. His signature "Power Workout" was the springboard to the rising influence of House music in Los Angeles. It was this versatility that earned him remixing work with Amber, Frankie Cutlass and Nina Lares. Enrie took advantage of the latest of musical trends by successfully releasing a series of mix CD's on labels such as PR Records, Priority and Underground Construction. In 1988, after creating a new studio for himself, Enrie released his most hi-tech mix compilation, "Inside My Mind," on Main Source Records. This double packet featured an interactive multi-media CD which included his music video, background information, games, tour dates, a special interview as well a virtual mixer, allowing fans be the "DJ." Enrie has found a home for his House at Moonshine Music. His 1999 debut release "Turn It Up" featured 17 tracks of cutting edge hard house with a relentless tempo. Mid-Summer 2000 was prime time for "Turn It Up 2", a compilation reflecting the hard bangin', body movin' house Enrie had been throwing down in the clubs. "Keeping it real and staying true to my fans is what it's all about", says Enrie. On his latest effort, "Welcome to the Mix Show, " Enrie showcases his hard-bangin', body-movin' House selections as well as his newest single, "Gimme Funk," which Moonshine Music will release on vinyl as part of an artist deal. From his humble beginnings at American Trax, Enrie worked his way up to "Power Tools," on to his signature "Power Workout" show, all the while building a loyal audience of devoted fans.

DJ RAP -Charissa Saverio (also known as DJ Rap, born 1969) is a British drum and bass disc jockey. While the majority of her work is in the jungle style, her more popular work is in traditional electronic music. Her most well-known CD, Learning Curve, was released in 1999 to critical acclaim and resulted in several highly stylized music videos, including 2 versions of "Good To Be Alive" (one for the CD version and another for the rarer radio remix) and "Bad Girl," a song about having to be a strong woman to survive in today's world. Since Learning Curve, Saverio has focused more on DJ set CDs, including Touching Bass, a 2-CD set with drum and bass and breaks tracks. She is planning on a follow-up in 2007, this time with drum and bass and house tracks. DJ Rap has also done vocals for several artists, including BT (for Giving Up The Ghost, Believer) and Art of Trance (for Madagascar - Domi Nation Remix).

COLETTE - DJ Colette is one of the first DJs to add her vocals to the record she spins, inspiring a new category of performance in the electronic world. As countless others begin to sing and spin, many can still not compare to the vocal/turntable sessions Colette delivers. How many singing DJs combine up-close observation of the legendary Derrick Carter and Mark Farina dating back to Chicago in the late Eighties with formal operatic training from the ages of nine to eighteen? MISS FLOWER (TraxTorm, ThirdMovement) - First Arizona Appearance out of Switzerland - At the age of 14 years, Miss Flower visited her first Rave and had fallen in love with electronic music immediately. This is EXACTLY what they delivered. I was quite honored to be a part of something so large for the Arizona scene. The Beginning was certainly the start to something larger then anything Arizona has seen in a long time. Lights, sound, vibe, venue, this party will definitely be remembered.

The techno line-up was top notch. The main stage was on fire as soon as Amnesia opened until the last song was played out by Harmonious. Lenny D and Chris Liberator played some of the best sets I have heard at a party in a long time. There was so much energy in the crowd upstairs even due to the fact it was a little hot. The promoters had several fans running throughout the night to keep people cooled off.

I need to give major props to all those involved with the lighting and lasers. You guys really know how to do it up proper. As you all can see from the pictures, it was insane. There was so much hard work and effort put into making this happen I cant do a single thing but give all the promoters, party goers, security, and everyone else involved much respect for making this happen. I have not seen props like this in a long time and I hope future promoters will see this as a learning experience and help our scene grow into something we have never seen before. I truly believe this WAS the beginning to a new kind of scene and I hope to see more of this in the near future.

I have never been to one of the monthly Aura's so this was definitely a new experience for me. The nice thing about The Mystic Jewell is the VERY relaxing atmosphere and the soothing vibe you recieve when you first walk in the door. With a cover of only $5.00 this is something I will be sure to check out more often. There are places to sit and relax, a beautiful dancing floor with some amazing designs on the floor, and a new crowd of very welcoming people. Keep checking up with the Arizona Rave Scene blog for more information on the next Aura. I highly recommend checking it out.

Philter 2007 - Brought to you by Outside World and COH Entertainment

This has to be one of the best themed parties of the year so far. I immediatly felt the vibe as soon as I walked through the door. The visuals and props were nothing short then amazing. The lighting was impressive. The wait to get into the party was close to nothing. I was excited that I did not have to wait an hour or two like the usual Icehouse parties. Security was very friendly and understanding which was very nice for a change. The music was very stimulating. I danced just about the whole night. The set Danny the Wildchild threw down was not anything too spectacular. I did not find too much interest in his unique drum and bass stylings. I did enjoy Pete Smalls "Tour de Genre" set. The flow of the set was as follows - Progressive House -> Tribal -> Progressive Trance -> Breaks -> Trance. There was nothing but full energy coming from the crowd the whole set. Sean Tyas played an extraordinary set as well. I could not keep still the whole time he played out. I did not get to catch Dave Berg's set as I was wandering around the party trying to check out all the vendors and stages. The way they had everything set up around the Icehouse was the best I have seen in awhile. Over all, this was a great party and I look forward to the next coming from OSW and COH Entertainment.

Sean Tyas(Switzerland/Discover Records) - First Arizona appearance - “Sean Tyas has to be one of the hottest producers around at the moment.” – Armin van Buuren (August 2006)
After being blown away by some of his recent productions, John Askew has signed up Sean Tyas to join the existing Discover ranks. His first outing on the label will come in the form of a kicking remix he has done of Aled Mann’s “Cold Fusion” which will then set the standard for his first Discover single “Lift” which is sure to be another classic release for the label.

Sean Tyas, a New York native and part of BasslineNYC (http://www.basslinenyc.com/), now residing in Switzerland, brings to the dancefloor a mix of melodic harmony and driving groove that is sure to be just as effective on the legs as it is on the heart. He got his start in 1999 with his first set of Tech-12s and started to learn how to mix music. But for him, this was not enough. In the coming couple of years, he put together a studio and began producing records as well. By the age of twenty six, he has already remixed artists such as Christina Aguilera, Pink, Moby, Daniel Bedingfield, Christina Milian, and PPK. During this time he got his start into professional DJing with clubs in NYC such as Shelter and Exit. Moving to Europe proved to be a great move for Sean, doing all production for DJ Beam in Germany and building his experience as a studio producer. Eventually Sean decided to step away, concentrated much more on his own productions and remixes. "Mirella" was the product of this exodus, as it was promptly signed to Afterglow Recordings, seeing John Askew and Dave Joy remixes. This led to a follow-up remix of Duderstadt - Muhanjala, which has seen almost every playlist of any trance DJ this year, including Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. Despite the departure from Germany to Switzerland, Sean maintained relations with Beam, and the remix of Beam - "On your Mind" proved to be another HUGE club smash. Canned CONSTANTLY by the likes of Paul van Dyk, John O'Callaghan, & Armin van Buuren, this remix essentially locked Sean in as one of 2006's more endeared talents in the genre. Danny the Wild Child(Q101 FM/Strictly Hype/Surge Recordings, Chicago) - Danny the Wild Child aka Daniel Garcia was born on the South side of Chicago in 1977. The brother of a once aspiring DJ, he keenly watched and quickly learned the tricks of the trade. Danny began djing at age nine soon surpassing his brother's abilities and eventually inherited his equipment and records. At twelve, Danny entered a Chicago area contest for young DJ's and won. He took home that fifty-dollar prize and was called "The Wildchild" from that day forward. Although Danny's roots were as a Hip-Hop DJ, he was eventually introduced into the Chicago Rave scene and to the world of drum-n-bass. He enjoyed this new form of music, but also loved hip-hop and began to creatively blend the two genres creating a unique sound of his own. As Danny's turntable talents grew, he began to incorporate scratching and DMC style battle tricks into his Drum-n-Bass sets. His precise mixing skills and unique style and sound gave him the opportunity to bring Drum-n-Bass into the DMC and Hip-Hop scenes. Every first Friday evening of every month, the art galleries in Downtown Phoenix open up to give people a chance to take a self-guided tour through them. First Friday is organized by Artlink, a nonprofit organization "...dedicated to bringing together artists, the public, and businesses for a greater understanding, appreciation, and promotion of the arts and the development of a strong and vital downtown Phoenix arts community." First Fridays first started back in the 1990's when the interest in downtown arts and entertainment greatly expanded. The annual Art Detour, originally designed as simply an open studios tour, was founded in the spring of 1988, and has attracted hundreds of artists and thousands of art lovers downtown every year. The galleries and alternative art spaces were soon joined by music venues, cafes and individual artist studios.

Arrived out at the party location around 9:30pm. The location was very nice, a little far from the city but well worth the drive. The scenery was beautiful and the weather was perfect.

Everything was set up and ready to go by the time more people started to show up. The music and sound was right on key. Redbird and Pac D played an amazing set along with Killah-Ranks, Silent Assassin, and Evol1. Unfortunately I did not stick around for Cruz, Admyer, Quentin, and Wix but I am sure they played a great set as always. The vibe was nothing short then perfect. This was a wonderful beginning to the long weekend ahead.

Arrived at Tumbleweed park around 2pm. There were not as many people there as I thought there would be. The vibe was very welcoming. When I first got there, the weather was a little on the hot side. Around 3:30pm and nice dust storm rolled in and knocked all the shading away from the DJ booth. I decided to leave a little after it started to sprinkle to get out of the weather. I heard nothing but good things from people who stayed until the park gathering ended.

I helped to set up the party so I was out at the party location around 7pm. We finally had everything set up and ready to go around 9:30pm, a little late but it wasn't too much of a hassle. The sound could have been a bit better in my opinion. There was not much sound and I think two more cabs on each stage would have been a good idea. All DJ's who threw down records did well. I caught a little bit of every one's sets and didn't hear anything I didn't like or approved of. The vibe throughout the night was very welcoming. Even though there was no "parking" lot per say, everyone respected each others cars/trucks etc... I was very impressed with the way everyone handled the parking situation. The weather was perfect. It got a little colder later in the night so Bonn fires were set up. The one fire was a little too close to the stage and vending tables. Luckily nothing caught on fire but next time, please move all fires far enough away from crowded areas. I didn't end up leaving the party until 6:30am. There were still people partying. This is how parties these days should end up.

I headed out to the party a bit early to help Justin W out with some of his equipment. When I arrived(around 8:30pm) they already had almost everything set up and ready to go which is always a great sign. The nice thing was they had someone directing cars where to park. When I was out there last time, it was nothing but a huge traffic jam. I am glad to see they had everything organized this time. The only down side was no one really knew what was going on with the stages. Justin and I walked around the party about two times before we finally found someone to tell us what was going on. Once we got everything situated I started to walk around to pass out some flyer's. There was already a good amount of people there and it must have been only 9:00 - 9:15. I met a ton of new faces and everyone seemed to be having a good time already.

I was a little concerned for this party at first. There has been an increase in people ODing at parties. The last couple of parties held out at CowTown were shut down due to either people ODing or the promoter not having all of the correct permits. While I was walking around, I saw some things that made me a little upset. Wouldn't it be common sense to stay away from people who have tags on if you are selling drugs? Another thing that bothered me was this guy who had passed out near one of the shacks in the dirt. I woke him up to ask if he was OK and all he said was he was tired and needed some sleep. Why would you pay $25.00 to go to a party and sleep in the dirt? When I was leaving the party around 2:30am I saw a girl who was being carried out of the party by two of her friends. She had obviously taken too much of whatever she had. PEOPLE - IF YOU ARE GOING TO INDULGE, KNOW YOUR LIMITS

I was at the Breaks/DnB stage most of the night. I heard nothing but the best sets from all DJ's spinning at that stage - DJ Shifty, Robotech, Ill-Legal?, Rex, Excell, MONK - Great job guys. I didn't enjoy Monk's booty house set all that much. His Drum and Bass set was nothing short than amazing. He played some old classics and I don't think there could have been any other way to make his set more energetic.

Sorry to those I missed, I left earlier then usual.

I am glad the promoters took the time to get all the appropriate permits needed to make this a true "bust-free" party.

Urban Arts in the Park - 4/22/2007

I arrived at Papago Park around 4:30pm and there were a ton of people there. I felt the vibe as soon as I walked up to the crowd. It was nice to see so many groups of people joined together having a great time. The food was tasty and the people working all the stands were very polite. There was a mixture in the music so that everyone could listen to something they enjoyed. This was definitely the perfect ending to a great weekend. Much love goes out to the women who put this together. Thank you for a great time. :)

The promoters did an amazing job with the venue. It was perfect for the theme of the party. There were three floors with a stage on each. The main stage on the top, Hardcore on the second, Drum and Bass/Breaks in the basement. It had a really creepy feel to it which I believe helped to bring a great vibe to the party.

I was downstairs for the majority of the night assisting in looking out for the venue, making sure people were not climbing on the pipes and rafters. I did not have to say a single thing to anyone the whole night. Everyone has very respectful when it came to looking out for the new place. The only issue I had was with people standing in the middle of the stairway talking to friends. If you are going to hang out, please go to the side of the room by the walls, do not stand in the middle in every one's way. If someone tells you to move, do it, do not just stand there and stare at them with a dumb look on your face, that is totally disrespectful.

The sound was amazing at the main stage. Whoever built the stage did an amazing job, I loved the set-up. The Hardcore stage was OK, I did not stay there long since I am not too big of a fan. The sound in the basement could have been much better. You could hear the vibrations from the floor above. I don't know if there is much you can do about that but it made things downstairs a little rough.

All in all, I had a great time at this party. I met a lot of new people and saw some friends I have lost touch with. I will definitely be supporting Clix and Mafiatic parties again.

The unlucky Friday is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate the day by throwing a party themed with the American Slasher film, Friday the 13th. The story of Jason Voorhees, who accidentally drowned at Camp Crystal Lake whose mother, Pamela Voorhees went on a bloody killing spree to avenge the death of her physically deformed son.

Headlining the deadly show will be Philadelphia's own Mike Saga throwing down an all Industrial set along with Stepkinetic rocking the place with his unique Drum and Bass styling. MC High IQ will be slashing the mic bringing out the East Coast style to the West.

This will be in a brand new BUST-FREE venue.

I arrived at the party fairly early, I would say around 10:00pm. There was hardly a line to get in. Probably because security was not all that great. I emptied out just about all the contents in my pocket except for a bit of toilet paper, which I thought would come in handy later. The lady who was checking me asked me what was in my pocket, I told her, and all she said was "OK". I could have had anything in my pocket and they didn't even bother to ask me to pull it out to show them what it was.

There were not many lights to light the way throughout the party or at the stages. It really was not very appealing at all. Along with that, there were just way too many stages. Three stages with more sound would have been better then the seven stages with hardly any sound at all. Quality, not quantity.

I was not very pleased with the amount of people who showed up. Maybe it was because of the seven stages spread out along the huge venue but it seemed as if there was hardly anyone there. It was interesting how every stage I went to there were only about 10-15 people up dancing. As I was walking by the main stage there were only 2-3 people dancing while everyone else sat on the ground. That should NEVER happen at a party, especially if the music is good.

Twonz played an amazing set. I was surprised he didn't pull a bigger crowd, there were MAYBE 20 people rocking out to his set. Killah-Ranks also threw down some amazing EVIL tracks along with the producer who threw down after him(If anyone has his name please comment and let me know so I can add it to the post, thanks). Wix, Quentin, and Free-D rocked it as usual. I always enjoy listening to their mixes.

I was bummed out when the rumors started about the party being shut down. Nick Synergy was about to start when he was told to shut the sound off. First it was about some kid who ODed and died, which unfortunately someone did OD. The details on whether he/she is OK are still unknown. The next was the promoter did not have all the right permits. Whatever the truth is, please make sure all people are searched while entering the party for drugs instead of just checking them with a metal detector. We can at least cut down on the drug intake thus cutting the chance of someone ODing at a party and shutting it down.

Upcoming Events until June

I am very excited what the Arizona Rave Scene has in store for us this year. There are already some upcoming Arizona raves I plan on attending. For now, here are a couple of Arizona parties to try and check out.

In May, there are a couple of parties that are worth checking out. The first will be Philter, which I attended back in January of '06 and had an amazing time. This one is sure to be nothing but the best. Sean Tyas will be rocking in the Techtrance/Hardtrance for his first Arizona appearance along with Danny the Wild Child throwing down some Drum and Bass/Jungle to make up for a missed appearance at Diablo. The second party to check out will be The Beginning. 2BHappy Productions & Soda-licious are going to bring out the amazing Lenny Dee for his first time in Arizona to play an ALL TECHNO SET. Chris Liberator will also be in attendance bringing in some of the best tech-house from around the world.

The biggest one of them all, HTID in the Sun, is coming up in June. It is off to Spain for a full 7 days of relaxing in the sun during the day, and all the best Hardcore at night. A well needed vacation I must say.

Some local parties in June that kids should definitely check out are Welcome 2 Da Jungle and She Wars, featuring an all female lineup! For She Wars, Emagination Productions with Desert Reign Productions bring you DJ Rap(Drum and Bass), Colette(House), and Naha(Breakcore) plus many other female artists from around the world. Partykid Productions in association with Dark Nois Records bring you Welcome 2 Da Jungle featuring General Malice throwing in some Hardstep/Bboy jungle sound and Terra(Owned Clothing) tearing it up with the Drum and Bass/Jungle.

Be sure to catch a couple of these parties. If you have never been to an Arizona party, I would recommend to start with one of these. It is a life changing experience that I am sure you will enjoy.

Irish Jig ended up getting busted this weekend.

Here is some information taken from a post by a member on Edmnex.us.

ALL ORGANIZERS, PROMOTERS, PARTY KIDS, ETC. - YOU CANNOT THROW RAVES ON NATIONAL FOREST LAND WITHOUT ALERTING THE AUTHORITIES ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!

Here's how you get away with partying until noon (or later) on Sunday -
1. Don't call it a rave. Period.
2. Don't promote it like a rave.
3. Use a system to limit who has directions, and have a list of event members who have RSVP'd in case the cops do show up.
4. Have a large number of people camping on site over the whole weekend.
5. Don't play too loud. It sounds a lot better when it's not in the red.
6. Keep it small. If you have less than 75 people in attendance you don't have to have a permit.

Any larger than that and you must get permitted by the National Forest Service (among others).

IF THE COPS DO SHOW UP -
1. Do NOT let everyone scramble. Everyone should go about their business until the cops decide to send everyone home or move along. If the cops do decide to send everyone home, everyone should spend as long as possible picking up trash, breaking down equipment, etc. to show the cops that we're conscientious of our impact on the land and treat it with more respect than we've been shown.
2. Do NOT let anyone get confrontational. If someone does decide to try it, do whatever you have to do to get that person under control immediately. Otherwise, the cops may use it as an excuse to retaliate.
3. Get the cops info as well. Write down everything (name, rank, badge #, etc). Whoever has cameras should be getting video as well as possible at this time.

I agree with the post in full and promoters should understand if you are going to throw a party, to make sure you take all precautions so it does not get busted.

I did not attend this party so I am not sure what all the circumstances were. I just thought I should make a post and another point on why more parties should be held at legal venues.

Sneaking into Parties

Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that there has been a lot of discussion on people sneaking into parties. What can we do about stopping it? What drives people to sneak in? There are many questions concerning the topic in itself.

I, for one, do not think that we can ever "stop" ravers from sneaking into parties. The simple fact of the matter is there is always going to be an alternative route to get into a party, especially a desert party. There have been times where I have seriously sat and watched multiple ravers running through the desert and jumping fences to get into parties that cost maybe $10 bucks at the most.

What drives these people to sneak in? I think costs are a major factor in the situation. I can understand that parties are getting expensive at times and not everyone can afford to go. That does not mean you should sneak into a party that someone has put time and MONEY into throwing for the Arizona scene. If you cannot afford to go to a party, then DON'T go. There is plenty of things you can do on a Saturday night for free. Phoenix does have more then the rave scene to offer young adults.

This may just be another factor in why the Arizona Rave Scene is dwindling and divided. If the promoters are not making the money from putting on shows, what would drive them to put on more in the future?

I really wasn't impressed with this party at all. Rhinox usually throws great parties so I was a little disappointed when this one didn't turn out so great. The fact that I paid $25 bucks to get into a party that was maybe worth $10 destroyed my vibe from the start. I was surprised to see 5 different stages set up around the venue - Which was too large for this party. There were not that many people so it seemed kinda empty with the stages set so far apart. The weird thing was the DnB and House stages were so close the sound bleed was terrible. Especially since one of the speakers at the DnB stage sounded like it was blown. That was kind of disappointing. I do give props to the theme of the party. It was put together very well. What happened to the 700 or so snakes that were supposed to be scattered from one end of the venue to the other? I got there early and I didn't see not one glow in the dark snake.

I know there was nothing that the promoter could do about the weather but it was just way too cold out there. They could have at least had a couple of bonn fires going somewhere for people to warm up. I ended up leaving early just because I couldn't see myself having a good time as the night went on.

Arrived early... Kinda got off to a slow start, but as soon as everything did start, good show. Thanks Cap for throwing a little DnB into the mix - That was awesome! You're set was hella bomb.. Along with you CIK! You two are the only ones that really get me listening to Hardcore. Pac D - You played an amazing set like usual, I loved it. Macrodot - That was an awesome set all together, I have really never heard you play until last night, but wow, good stuff for sure. Props to Clix for actually throwing a legal party. BTW - I thought it was awesome that everytime I went to use the restroom, there was ALWAYS TP and soap to wash my hands. The lighting in the main room was sick as usual, no complaints there. I thought it was really interesting how there were little activites set up around the party. I think you did a great job sticking to your theme Clix. Good job for making things proper for your first party. This was just an average party, nothing to particular. I had fun non-the-less, so good job. :)

All I have to say is wow. This party was amazing. The lighting, sound, position of the stages, vibe, and music was great. I have always enjoyed going out to CowTown for parties. It is such a great venue to use. The only problem I really had about the party was the $25.00 entrance fee. What happened to the $20.00 bucks we were SUPPOSED to pay all night? I really didn't understand why they started to card people either. Maybe it was because the cops were there for awhile but either way, you don't do that when the flyer says ALL AGES.

Other then paying WAY too much for this party I have to say it was one of the better parties of the New Year so far. Great job!

First off, I would like to thank AZHardcore Junkies, especially Cik. You guys did an amazing job. I was very impressed how the party turned out.

The only problem I had with the party was the long wait in line to get in. I would say maybe have two lines to get into the Ice House, but I know that will probably cause some unexpected issues. For now, us ravers are just going to have to deal with it. Get there early or suffer.

I don't even know where to start with the amazing sets that I heard. It sucks that RAW was a no-show, but no worries. I was excited to see Pac-D take his place. So worth it anyways!

Looking forward to the next party kids!

Another Arizona desert party done completely right :)

The party started off a little late in the night which was fine because it turned out to be a great night. There were so soo many great sets played I don't even know where to begin. CIK and CAP definitely rocked the Hardcore! I was having a blast dancing to it. Amnesia and Luminous, Yello and Metatron - WOW! The Drum and Bass sets I heard were AMAZING! Pac D's "Jump up" set really got my feet moving.

Even though there were some technical issue's it really didn't make a difference in the vibe and energy of the party.

I really look forward to upcoming parties from you guys! Thanks Eric for having me out!

Legal Venue?

I've noticed that more and more parties are getting broken up now a days. Personally, I don't feel like paying $10-$20 bucks to go to a party that is going to get busted two hours or so after I get there.

Maybe its time we all get together and chip in for a legal venue we can use maybe once or twice a month. I would be willing to attend more parties if I knew they werent going to get busted.

I know this subject has been talked about in the past, but I think its time we ACTUALLY do something about it. If parties keep getting busted, what do you think its going to do to our scene? More and more people aren't going to want to give the time of day or money to something that is only going to last until the cops break it up.

We need to keep this scene alive, lets start doing something about it Arizona.

Outdoor Vs. Indoor

There is much discussion on whether indoor or outdoor parties are more benecifial then the other. There are many pros and cons to both... This is the way I see it:

OUTDOOR -
There is more room to roam, it doesnt get way overcrowded, cheaper to throw parties, cooler during the hot summer months. But then again, you also have to worry about local wildlife, equiptment getting damaged, finding a place where the cops wont find you and making it easy enough for everyone to get there, and getting arrested for trespassing on someone's land.

INDOOR -
Great during the cold winter months, equiptment can be kept safer, sound is much better, there are not as many drunk or messed up people, things can be kept under control for the most part, more likely to have restrooms. The problem with indoor parties is they can be expensive to rent, dangerous to break into, get too overcrowded and hot, can be very dirty and dark, lack of proper facilities leading to very unsanitary situations.

Personally, I like to attend desert parties during the hot summer months, and more indoor parties during the cooler winter months. Either way, the parties I like to attend have to be legal.

The long awaited first party named Yoshi's Island for DSRK was finally here. Funny thing is, it didn't happen. WTF?! I heard plenty of rumors on why the party didnt kick off in the first place but it all seems hella shady to me. I dont know if I will support DSRK anymore cause of that. What a joke. This is why new promoters should throw parties in legal venues and have it set up BEFORE the day of the party until they figure out what they are doing.

The good thing about the people who threw the party was that they did have a back up plan and ended up throwing a small house party out in Surprise. I didnt go to it, so I'm not sure how it turned out. Way too far of a drive for something that I thought, wouldnt be worth the time of day.

Great Job DSRK, for making such a great first impression.

My advice to you, quit dealing with such shady people to get you a venue. Take care of this before the day of your party.

The small size of the venue surprized the hell out of me. I dont think the promoters anticipated such a good turnout for the small party. It was hot as hell in there. Good beats for sure though.

December 23, 2006-

The sound bleed sucked. I didnt like how I had to stand right next to the speakers at the Drum-N-Bass stage to hear it over the stage below. That venue sucks for stages to be set up like that for sure. Other then the sound bleed it was a pretty good party over all. I really enjoyed standing in the back of the crowd and just watching the snow fall and listen to good beats. That really made my night.

Lots of new faces, always nice to see that at a traditional party.

A huge shout out to Flock and everyone else that was involved for throwing such a wonderful party for such a great cause. The DJ's tore it up! I know everyone there, including Katey was definitely RAVING LIKE WHOA!

The memorial was beautiful, and the huge signing paper on the wall was a wonderful idea. The room itself was so hard to be in without shedding a tear, there was so much emotion up there.

It really pissed me off that the cops shut the party down. I know they were just doing their jobs, but can't they make an exception every once in awhile? I am glad to hear the donation box was given back later in the night. That would have been heartless of them if they were to take it for good. I have to say though, it was really funny when "Katey" dropped the beer on that cops head. PROPS TO YOU GIRL!

The way the party was set up was amazing. Out of all the Ice House parties I have been to with the exception of Wonder 3(amazing) and Philter(also amazing), this was by far the most interesting set up. As soon as I showed up and saw the really really long line going around the building, I knew it was going to be a wait and a half to get inside. Fortunatly I knew some people who knew some people and didnt have to wait in the line for more then 15 minutes. I am sorry to those of you who had to wait for more then an hour to get inside.

I stayed inside for most of the time I was there. GREAT MUSIC!! I already had myself sweating the first twenty minutes I was in that room from dancing my ass off. Good times for sure. I had brought two newbies with me that night. We did end up leaving a bit earlier then usual because they were getting a bit nervous. They weren't used to the constant people bumping into you, or randomly just talking to you. I know now they really weren't ready for the rave experience and I will be more careful who I decide to influence next. lol

Props to who threw the party, it was definatly the best Unity I attended this year! :)

The party was set up great! As soon as I walked in the door and saw the way the first stage was set up, I knew this was going to be a good party. There were a couple of technical errors with the first stage but I think it was just because the DJ booth was on the second story, and the speakers and sound equiptment were on the first.

The second stage was set up just as cool. The lights in the Hardcore room were awesome. I remember sitting against the wall and just enjoying myself watching the laser show.

Great music all throughout the night, I have to say, I did dance my ass off. The only downfall was I did have to leave earlier then expected due to some "drama". The time I was there was definatly worth the $10 dollar entrance fee! :)

The party itself was put together very well. The stages were far enough apart to where you could not hear the music from the other. The DJ's were definatly a plus. Great line up altogether. The only bad thing is the party had to end so quick.

I think the promoter did the right thing when he ended the party. Things were getting way out of hand and I think he made the right decision instead of getting the cops involved.

It really does upset me when "non-ravers" show up to our parties and just start drama. Thats not what these parties are for. People are starting to forget that our parties are for the music, the people, the GOOD atmosphere. It is not a place where you bring your drama and bad vibes.

Another thing, people should never stop supporting Flock just because one party went the way it did. They have thrown so many parties that ended up great in the past. No need to worry about future parties. We should all just have some faith in them. I, for one, am definatly excited about the make-up party they are throwing next year!
